Sport psychology student Hermanni — “Having a mentor is a significant advantage”

Sport and Exercise Psychology student Hermanni Salomaa completed his internship for Mental Performance Coaching under Mirjam Wallin’s professional guidance in 2024.

“Mirjam created a very pleasant training environment and demonstrated a sharp sense of situational awareness.

As a mentor, Mirjam is professional, open, flexible and genuinely interested. You can see these qualities in the way she is considerate of others.

We worked on conducting individual coaching sessions and delved into various elite sport topics.

Being under Mirjam's guidance has been extremely easy as she is highly collaborative. Her appropriate sense of humour coupled with professionalism made Mirjam's approach convincing.

The training process has been a cohesive experience, with its most valuable takeaways being the opportunity to learn through doing and gain tools and insights for future challenges.

I warmly recommend working with Mirjam to everyone and encourage other students in this field to seek internships that they find meaningful. Having a mentor is a significant advantage.

Throw yourselves fully into the process and believe in yourselves—failing and struggling outside your comfort zone is what drives us forward the most!”
